Why Heurika exists.

Oren Cohen, who built Heurika

Oren Cohen, creator

The first decision I made for my health was in sixth grade. I decided to start taking cold showers. I quit after two days.

Eventually I worked out that I could not start on the coldest setting, especially in winter. I had to ease into it. Every day I lowered the temperature slightly, and before long I was taking genuinely freezing showers without thinking about it.

Two things came out of that, and they are the whole reason this app exists.

Lesson 01

Sustainable change is gradual, not drastic.

Lesson 02

When life gets in the way, adapt rather than quit.

I used that approach on my diet, then my training, then my sleep, and eventually on everything else. It worked because nothing ever asked more of me than the week could carry.

Heurika is that method, built into software. It assesses where you actually are, moves in increments small enough to survive a real week, and changes course when something does not hold rather than treating you as the problem.

It should not take all your willpower to engineer your evolution. Just a vision, some discipline, and a few clear moments along the way.

What follows from that

Three rules the product keeps.

Start where you are

The first plan is built from your assessment, not from an ideal. If you sleep five hours, the plan does not open by asking for eight.

Move in increments

Change arrives in steps small enough that a bad week does not break them. The plan holds for a period rather than churning daily.

Adapt, do not quit

Say what got in the way and the task is rewritten to serve the same end differently. Nothing is recorded as a failure.
